But it's Thursday... Wednesday was yesterday...

Barack Obama added a healthy dose of pragmatism to his position on Iraq today, suggesting that instead of just getting out right away, he might make slight adjustments based on the views of military commanders and combat realities. The Republican Party, in its typical stuck-in-the-mud ways, pounced.

"There appears to be no issue that Barack Obama is not willing to reverse himself on for the sake of political expedience," said Alex Conant, a spokesman for the national Republican Party.

Well, I can think of at least two: tax cuts for the rich and off-shore drilling. Phleh.

Whenever the Republican flip-flop attacks start up, I am reminded of something Stephen Colbert said of George W. Bush: "The greatest thing about this man is he's steady. You know where he stands. He believes the same thing Wednesday that he believed on Monday, no matter what happened Tuesday. Events can change; this man's beliefs never will."
